VIEW OF THE DURING THE PRESENTS

History of ELI | About the Teachers

The English Language Institute is a medium-sized school situated in Dublin?s city centre, next to Dublin?s most famous park, St. Stephen?s Green. The school is a two minute walk from Grafton Street and a ten minute walk from Temple Bar and O?Connell Street. It is often our excellent location which first attracts students to our school.

Most people come to ELI as full-time students, and we run three full time programmes, one in the morning (from 9.00 to 12.15), one in the afternoon (from 1.15 to 4.30) and one in the evening (from 6.00 to 9.15). Students study for three hours every day, from Monday to Friday over 25 weeks. This counts as a one year course. Students can study for three different exams at ELI, the Key English Test, the Preliminary English Test, and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Most of our full time students work in Dublin while undertaking their course, and the Irish government allows students to work for twenty hours a week during their 25 weeks in school. Students may work full-time during their holidays. If you want to read what some of our students say about working in Ireland, click here. If you are a non-EU student, and you want to learn more about getting a visa to study full time at ELI, click here. If you would like an application form to begin your application, click here.

ELI also runs a part-time course on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. If you would like to learn more about our part time courses, click here.

All students at ELI are welcome to take advantage of ELI?s many facilities, including Airport Transfers, Host Family Accommodation and free Library and Internet access.

ELI is also accredited by ACELS, the Advisory Council for English Language Schools. This means that all our English language courses are Department of Education approved. In addition to our many full time general English courses, we offer part time courses and new exam courses, as well as a host of more specialised courses, which can be designed on request by groups.

We are proud that, as well as being the longest established English Language School in Ireland; we are now also in a position to offer a direct link to an approved third level institution, Harcourt Business School.
